This chapter focuses on masticatory muscle myofascialpain (MMP) and tension-type headaches (TTH) and examinestheir relationships to each other and to fibromyalgia(FM). We review the chronic daily headaches (CDH) as agroup and specifically chronic tension-type headache andnew daily persistent headache. Other CDHs such aschronic migraine (Chapter 9), chronic trigeminal autonomiccephalgias including hemicrania continua (Chapter Austin Chiropractic10) and medication overuse headache (Chapter 13) are coveredin designated chapters. MMP is one of the entitiesfound within a diagnostic umbrella termed temporomandibulardisorders (TMD); a classification that includes ailmentsof the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) andmasticatory muscles (Dworkin and LeResche 1992; Okeson1996).
