Abnormal sleeping patterns are one type of the major depression symptoms. Oversleeping or being unable to sleep are dependent on the coping mechanisms of the individual. The same can be said about eating. Overeating or being unable to eat are also dependent on the person suffering from depression. Symptoms of depression also vary according to age.
